Ian Green is an Assistant Professor of American Literature at Eastern Washington University. He earned his PhD from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He received his MA from New York University.

Dr. Green specializes in American literature and literary history, as well as in writing instruction. His research focuses on the intersections of capital, supernaturalism, folk narratives, religion, and diaspora in the Atlantic.

He teaches courses including introductory writing and fiction, surveys of American literature, advanced and capstone courses on American horror fiction and Herman Melville. He additionally teaches courses in digital humanities at the undergraduate and graduate level.

His recent published scholarship has asserted Herman Melville’s place within the legacy of American Gothic literature. Similarly, he has argued for the records of the Massachusetts Bay witchcraft trials as important foundations of American horror genre and mythology. He also develops scholarly and teaching programs in digital humanities, and public-facing scholarship.
